UPDATE: Going-home services for Sis. Littlejohn will be Thursday at 2 at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Gaffney, SC.

The Rev. C.A. Wallace will officiate and the Rev. Lee Byers will deliver the eulogy. Interment will be in Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. She will lie in state in the church Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Shady Grove Baptist Church contestant Ja’Mya Sharlene Bonner was crowned the Thickety Mountain Baptist Association Young Women’s Auxiliary (YWA) “2012 Little Miss Walking Doll” during the group’s Bi-Annual program.

Ja’Mya was escorted by Master Jeremiah Greene. The crown was awarded to the contestant raising the most funds for the American Cancer Society to support cancer victims and research, a YWA community outreach initiative.

Ja’Mya is the daughter of Ms. Ashley Bonner and Mr. John Austin; Jeremiah is the son of Deac. Jermaine and Syreeta Greene, all members of Shady Grove Baptist Church.

The Bi-Annual service was held at Piney Grove Baptist Church.

Sis. LaDonna Tate is president of the Shady Grove Young Women’s Auxiliary and Sis. Shanese Dawkins is president of the Thickety Mountain Young Women’s Auxiliary.

The Shady Grove Youth Choir celebrated their 22nd Anniversary with a special program Sunday April 22 at 4 p.m. The group sang two songs, with guest choirs including Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Youth and the First Baptist Church of Earl, NC, youth choir, participating.

There also were duets by Faith and Hope Bonner, daughters of Pastor and Mrs. Cornelius Bonner of Anderson, and members of the Gaffney High School Gospel Choir.

The Mt. Sinai ‘Spirit of Unity Praise Team’ led the praise and worship period and Pastor Bonner served as the program’s emcee.

Sis. Shakila Lattimore is the director of the Shady Grove Youth Choir. Sis. LaDonna Tate is her assistant and Sis. Terrica Oglesby serves as president

Committed to receive the Charge of Deaconship and heed the call to lead through service: trustees Jermaine Greene, Al Phillips, Larry Byers (not pictured) and Darrett Lattimore.

The Rev. Courtney Mills, pastor of Mikes Creek Baptist Church, will deliver the ordination sermon.

The Shady Grove Baptist Church family will honor Rev. Lee Byers, Jr. on his Sixth Pastoral Anniversary during a special service Sunday March 11, 2012, at 3:00 p.m.

The guest speaker for this occasion will be Dr. Michael Bridges, Pastor of Concord Baptist Church. He will be accompanied by his choirs and congregation.

The Rev. Byers is married to the former Esther Montgomery of Gaffney, and they have five adult children and ten grandchildren. First Lady Byers serves as a member of the Shady Grove Deaconess, Trustee, and Minister’s Wives Ministry, and Senior Missionary Ministry. She also serves as a Youth Supervisor, an advisor to the Young Women’s Ministry (YWA), and a member of the Thickety Mountain Ministers Wives Auxiliary.

The Rev. Albert Gray, an associate minister of Shady Grove, will deliver the sermon for the  Sunday morning worship service. The Shady Grove Youth Choir will deliver special music. An anniversary luncheon will be provided immediately following the service.
