The Rev. Antoine Murray

The Rev. Antoine Murray

Tragic news today of the passing of the Rev. Antoine Murray, a son of Shady Grove with family relations throughout the church family, including being the son-in-law of Dea. and Mrs. Arthur Dover.

The Rev. Murray was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Spartanburg and served in the youth ministry when he accepted the call to preach. In 2001, he joined Shady Grove Baptist Church, where he continued to minister. He attended Emmanuel Baptist College and American Baptist College and Seminary.

We’ll post more information as it becomes available.

Shady Grove’s own Rev. London C. Knuckles will be honored by the 138th Annual Session of the Thickety Mountain Baptist Association. The Rev. Knuckles, who died in June of this year, is being recognized for his 45 years of service to the Association.

The session will be held Sept. 26-30, 2015, at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Gaffney. The Rev. Freddy Davidson is their pastor.

This year’s theme is “Envisioning the Future Exceptionally,” focusing on the process for progress, taken from Genesis 26:13, “The man began to prosper and continued prospering and he became very prosperous.”

The Rev. Tony Macomson is moderator of the Thickety Mountain Baptist Association.
